EASTON, Pa. (AP) - A hospital in eastern Pennsylvania has sent notice to the state that it plans to close.

The Express-Times (https://bit.ly/1kfSytE) said Thursday that Kindred Hospital Easton gave notice to the state Department of Labor & Industry that 105 people will lose their jobs when the long-term acute care facility closes.

The hospital filing says layoffs are expected to start during a 14-day period beginning March 29. Such notices are required under law 60 days before a business eliminates more than 50 jobs in the state.

The hospital’s website says it is a 31-bed facility that provides long-term acute care in Wilson Borough.

The notice doesn’t explain why the hospital is closing. A call to the chief executive officer was not immediately returned.
