PHOENIX (AP) - A March 13 sentencing is scheduled for a former Arizona State University defensive back convicted of attempted sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman.

Andres Rafael Garcia faces up to 17 years in prison for his guilty pleas in December to attempted sexual assault and third-degree burglary.

Garcia was accused of pushing the victim and causing her to fall into a wall and then to the ground.

Investigators say she lost consciousness but later regained it and was unable to cry or move her body as Garcia attacked her.

Police say Garcia later apologized to the victim and said wished he could take it back.

Garcia joined the Sun Devils in the 2012 season as a non-scholarship player, but was later dismissed from the team.
