MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont will be receiving $2.5 million more in federal money for heating assistance.

U.S. Sens. Leahy and Sanders and Rep. Welch say that “any relief is welcome” for families in the state struggling to heat their homes.

The Vermont congressional delegation says they will continue to press for additional support for low-income Vermonters’ heating costs.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services reports it has dispersed more than $19 million to Vermont so far for fiscal year 2014.
