IRVING, Texas (AP) - Retail gasoline prices across Texas have dropped by a penny average this week to $3.09 per gallon.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide figure for regular unleaded is 13 cents less than this time a year ago.

AAA says the national average stands at $3.27, a decline of 2 cents from the week before.

Of the metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Amarillo continue to pay the least at $2.97. Motorists in El Paso are paying the most on average, at $3.14 per gallon.

Crude oil prices have largely been flat to begin the year and gas prices have fluctuated modestly based on regional and local factors, such as frigid temperatures in some areas of the country.
