HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in central Missouri are trying to identify a woman found dead outside a gas station along U.S. 54.

The Fulton Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1bah7FR ) reports an employee of the ExxonMobil station in Holts Summit discovered the body around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

The woman was described as a white female, but investigators are uncertain of her age. It’s also not known how long she had been dead.

The body was located in a grassy area next to a gravel lot where tractor-trailers and other large vehicles were parked.

Holts Summit police Sgt. Marc Haycook says authorities plan to review tape from cameras at the gas station for any evidence. The Missouri Highway Patrol is working on the case with Jefferson City and Holts Summit police and the Callaway County sheriff’s department.
