CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say two people have been charged after a dispute involving five women at a suburban Buffalo store resulted in one of them being hit in the head with a hammer.
Police tell local media outlets that two women were leaving the Burlington Coat Factory in Cheektowaga around 7 p.m. Tuesday when a car with three women pulled up.
Officers say the 42-year-old woman driving the car got out of the vehicle armed with a hammer and ran after the two women. A struggle ensued during which the hammer was dropped and picked up by a 25-year-old woman being attacked.
Police say the 25-year-old used the hammer to hit the 42-year-old in the forehead. She later was treated at a hospital.
Officers charged both women.
It’s not clear what led to the fight.
