MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) - A Muskogee police officer has been arrested after being accused of assaulting, kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman at his home in Oktaha.

County Chief Deputy Brandon Caster tells the Tulsa World (https://bit.ly/1eddEJk) that 39-year-old Mark Vernon Ridley was arrested late Wednesday.

Ridley was a 17-year veteran of the Muskogee Police Department. Caster says he is jailed on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, kidnapping and sexual assault.

Cpl. Mike Mahan says Ridley had been placed on administrative leave in December after allegedly assaulting the same woman then. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation handled the December case. The findings have been submitted to a special prosecutor.

Mahan said Ridley remains on administrative leave.
