OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City police say homicide detectives have been called after a woman was found dead in her home on the city’s southwest side.

Capt. Dexter Nelson told reporters that the woman’s 3-, 8-, and 11-year old children found her unresponsive Friday morning and called a family friend. Police say the woman’s body showed signs of trauma consistent with homicide.

The woman’s name and suspected cause of death were not immediately released. Her body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.

Police say the children were not injured and have been placed in protective custody.
