About 150 families in a small subdivision of St. Genevieve County, Mo., are snowed in without any drinking water after an underground pipe froze and burst, a local radio station reported.

Grayhawk resident Linda Davis said people in the neighborhood have been boiling snow to drink and might be doing so for the next few days as the only road in and out of town is covered with a foot of snow, the station reported.

“About seven pots of snow and ice — I can get almost a pot of water,” she said, adding that the situation has been “a little rough.”

The state’s transportation department is responsible for clearing the roads, but did not return the station’s requests for comment.
