LAS VEGAS (AP) - A man accused of filing for a passport under a fake name and then hiding in the Philippines for two years is back in Nevada awaiting a federal trial.
Officials with the U.S. Department of State say they located and helped arrest Jeffrey Louis Ochs in the Philippines on June 20. He arrived in Nevada on Friday.
State Department officials say they discovered in 2012 that Ochs had applied for a passport using a false identity. Authorities say agents with the department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security worked with their contacts in the Philippines to make the arrest.
Ochs faces federal charges of aggravated identity theft and making false statements in a passport application. Authorities say he also faces multiple charges in Nevada, including methamphetamine trafficking.
