PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a man and woman were critically injured when they were shot at close range on the street in one of two double shootings in northeast Philadelphia overnight.
Police said a 55-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were both shot multiple times shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday in the Oxford Circle neighborhood.
A police spokeswoman said both were taken to Aria-Torresdale hospital, where the woman was later listed in stable condition.
Officials told reporters that the attacker fled on foot, and a semi-automatic handgun was found lying in some grass nearby.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said the evidence indicates that the shots were fired from “point-blank range.”
Two men were also shot about an hour later in the Holmesburg area of northeast Philadelphia. Both were listed in stable condition.
