WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A Wilmington woman has been arrested and charged in a weekend hit and run death.

Wilmington Police Cpl. Leslie Irving said 40-year-old Michael Rankin was driving a moped when he was struck and killed early Saturday.

Irving says 22-year-old Stephanie M. Wells has been charged in the death.

Police said Wells left the scene but then called 911 to report the accident. She is charged with driving while intoxicated, felony hit and run, and death by motor vehicle. It was not clear if she has an attorney.
