SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a South Florida man injured when lightning struck in his backyard was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sunrise Fire Department officials tell WTVJ-TV (https://bit.ly/1j5prx9 ) that the man was under a tree by a canal when lightning struck the tree. Officials say the electrical current traveled onto the victim.

The man’s name was not released. Additional details were not immediately available.
