BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) - Veteran officer Jim Blocker is the new police chief in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports (https://bcene.ws/1qFn9Hb ) Blocker was appointed Thursday following a 90-day trial run.
The 43-year-old replaces Jackie Hampton, who retired in January. Blocker says he’s “elated with the news.”
Blocker has been with the Battle Creek police since 1997. He also has served in multiple military command roles and received two Bronze Stars.
Blocker beat out a police chief from Monroeville, Ohio, and a Los Angeles police sergeant.
