Man, firefighter hurt in New Jersey building fire

CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) - One resident and a firefighter were hurt when a fast-moving fire broke out at a northern New Jersey building and spread to a neighboring structure.

Clifton authorities tell The Record (https://bit.ly/1jKneAD) that the fire on Dylan Avenue was reported around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. One of the buildings soon collapsed, while the other suffered major damage.

Authorities say a man in a second-floor apartment in one of the buildings was evacuated through a fire escape. He suffered burns to his face and hands and was being treated at a hospital, but further details on his condition were not released.

The injured firefighter suffered a strained knee and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
