FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) - A Marion County man will spend at least 15 years in prison for the slaying of his father-in-law.
Michael Palmer was convicted of first-degree murder on March 26. Media outlets report that he was sentenced Friday to life in prison with mercy. He’ll be eligible for parole after serving 15 years.
Marion County Circuit Court Judge Michael Aloi denied Palmer’s motion for a new trial.
Prosecutors say Palmer fatally shot Everett Wilson on Dec. 11, 2011, at Palmer’s home in Baxter. His trial was moved to Harrison County in February after a jury couldn’t be seated in Marion County.
