DETROIT (AP) - A drug possession charge has been dropped against an off-duty police officer from Windsor, Ontario, who was crossing the Ambassador Bridge into the United States.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday that further testing determined that David B’Shouty didn’t have a controlled substance when he was stopped April 12.
Prosecutors say the material had the appearance of cocaine and initially tested positive in the field for the presence of cocaine. Following the new test, however, prosecutors say a judge granted their request to dismiss the charge. B’Shouty had been due in court for a preliminary hearing.
The Ambassador Bridge spans the Detroit River and connects downtown Windsor in Canada to Detroit.
