SEATTLE (AP) - A man fatally shot after authorities say he stopped his pickup in the middle of southbound Interstate 5 in Seattle and menaced state troopers with a knife has been identified as a 33-year-old from Marysville, Washington.

The King County medical examiner’s office says the man fatally wounded Monday night was Jonathan K. Whitehead. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

A records check shows Whitehead was cited for several traffic infractions in 2012.

Callers to 911 reported an erratic driver who stopped his pickup, which soon caught fire. Witnesses say the man then spray-painted a large green circle on the pavement. Troopers used a Taser when the man confronted them with a knife but say it had no effect. The State Patrol says that’s when Troopers Andrew Boyer and Christopher Kyle shot him. They remain on leave while Seattle police investigate.

Seattle Sgt. Sean Whitcomb told The Seattle Times on Wednesday ( he had no update.
