RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Foul play is suspected in the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found face down in a watery culvert near Interstate 90 in southwest South Dakota.
Jackson County Sheriff Ray Clements tells the Rapid City Journal (https://bit.ly/UfDpAZ ) that a traveler discovered the woman’s body around 6 p.m. Tuesday after pulling off the highway. The man parked a short distance down a service road and was walking along the ditch when he saw human feet in the culvert’s opening.
Clements says the woman appears to be a white female in her mid-40s. No identifying information was found. The body was sent to Sioux Falls for an autopsy.
Clements says the body may have only been in the culvert for a few days.
