DETROIT (AP) - Firefighters responding to a blaze at a vacant house on Detroit’s east side found the body of a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police Capt. Darwin Roche tells The Detroit News that officers were called to the scene around 6 a.m. Thursday after the body was found. The identity of the man wasn’t immediately known. Police say the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine cause of death.
Roche says: “These sorts of senseless acts of violence sheer away at the moral fabric of what binds us together as humans.”
WWJ-AM reports the body was outside the house, covered by a blanket.
Investigators searched waist-high weeds surrounding the house and interviewed neighbors. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
