LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - A Lawrence man has pleaded guilty to shooting another man during an argument near a food truck.

The Eagle-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1qhgsbN ) reports that 29-year-old Josue Diaz pleaded guilty on Wednesday to second-degree murder for the December 2011 shooting death of Johann Miranda. The 29-year-old Miranda lived in Fairhaven but was visiting relatives in Lawrence and was getting something to eat in the early morning hours after attending a city club.

Police reports indicate that the argument was sparked in part because Diaz was Puerto Rican and Miranda was Dominican. The men did not know each other.

Diaz had faced a first-degree murder charge but pleaded to the lesser charge, making him eligible for parole after 15 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.
