BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) - Bristol police have charged a woman with breaking into a home and assaulting a 65-year-old victim during a late-night burglary.
Forty-five-year-old Candace Morehouse is detained on $20,000 bail on burglary, assault and other charges in connection with Saturday night’s break-in on Davis Drive. Morehouse lives just down the street from the crime scene.
Police say Morehouse barged into the home, assaulted a 65-year-old resident and damaged the victim’s property. The victim was hurt but didn’t need to go to a hospital. Police say Morehouse knew the victim.
A motive for the break-in wasn’t disclosed.
Morehouse is expected to be arraigned Monday in Bristol Superior Court. It’s not clear if she has a lawyer.
Police say Saturday night’s incident appears unrelated to a recent string of burglaries in town.
