PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The owners of an historical diamond-shaped art-deco style building in Providence are seeking to tear it down.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1ljad6w ) the future of the office building on Globe Street goes before the city’s Historic District Commission on Monday.

The two-story building, which sits across from the South Providence hospital complex, was built between 1901 and 1908 and housed the administrative offices of the Ward Baking Company.

JAG Investment Realty Company bought the property on which the building sits in 2011 for $10.6 million, and hopes to sell the land for development.

They already have torn down a former jewelry factory on the site and cleaned up environmental issues.
