SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Leaders of two Oregon state arts organizations have chosen a Pennsylvanian as executive director.
The Salem Statesman Journal (https://stjr.nl/1rLCbfM) reports that Brian Rogers beat out two other candidates and steps into a job left vacant when the former executive director was fired after 19 years and five board members quit in protest.
The Oregon Arts Commission and the Oregon Cultural Trust are overseen by Business Oregon, a state agency, and share an executive director.
Rogers is former deputy director of the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts and a painter. Leaders of the Oregon groups said he stood out because he worked for a similar organization, understands working in a state bureaucracy and served under five Pennsylvania governors of differing parties.
He starts in July.
