CLEVELAND (AP) - A judge has sentenced an Ohio man to serve eight years in prison after he was convicted of trying to kill his wife by rigging her car.

A jury convicted 74-year-old Ronald Miller last month of attempted aggravated murder and attempted murder, among other charges.

Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty says a judge on Monday sentenced the Richmond Heights man to eight years in prison.

A message seeking comment was left with Miller’s attorney.

Prosecutors say Miller tried to kill his third wife by lodging a wood shim in the throttle mechanism of her 2004 Honda Civic. The woman avoided hitting bystanders by steering the car through the window of a nail salon at a shopping plaza in suburban Cleveland. She was not hurt and has filed for divorce.
