DAUPHIN, Pa. (AP) - Two central Pennsylvania women are accused of neglecting an 88-year-old relative who was supposed to be in their care.

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said Tuesday that 58-year-old Kathy Hope and 30-year-old Elena Mishula of Middle Paxton Township have each been charged with neglect of care of a dependent person, a first-degree felony.

Investigators said paramedics called to the defendants’ home on Feb. 6 found the elderly and disoriented woman lying on a concrete carport.

Marsico said she hadn’t been given her medications for months and was suffering from hypothermia, sepsis, hypertension and bed sores. She remains hospitalized. Her name wasn’t released.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and found the home to be uninhabitable and crammed with rotting food, trash, animal feces and diapers.
