GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) - A 44-year-old teacher from Danbury has been charged with sexually assaulting a student at a Greenwich parochial school.

Police had issued an arrest warrant for Michael Maida on March 3. He turned himself in Tuesday and was charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Police tell WVIT-TV (https://bit.ly/1kfZmb7 ) said Maida had sexual contact with a student at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic school in Greenwich for students from kindergarten through high school.

Police have not released the age of the victim.

Maida was released after posting $50,000 bond and is due in court March 18.

Attempts to reach Maida Tuesday were not successful. He does not have a listed phone number and it was not clear if he has hired an attorney.
