FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A jury has found a Fort Collins dog trainer not guilty of animal cruelty.

The verdict in favor of Tami Carrasco, owner of American Dog School, was returned Tuesday.

Carrasco was charged with animal cruelty when a German Shepherd puppy in the care of her facility was returned to its owners in September 2012 with head injuries that required the surgical removal of one of the dog’s eyes.

Carrasco denied abusing or neglecting the dog and said she didn’t know how the injuries to the dog occurred.

Carrasco tells the Fort Collins Coloradoan (https://noconow.co/1haYpy2 ) that she’s relieved her name has been cleared. She faced up to 18 month in jail if she had been found guilty.

The dog’s owners said they were disappointed by the verdict.
