LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Larry Shyatt and his Wyoming Cowboys meet UNLV on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Mountain West Conference championships at Las Vegas.

The Cowboys (18-13, 9-9 Mountain West) earned a fifth seed for the tournament with a win over Colorado State on Saturday.

UNLV (19-12, 10-8 MW) is the fourth seed and is playing in its home arena.

The Cowboys haven’t beaten the Rebels in the Thomas & Mack Center since 2003.

Thursday’s game is set for 3:30 p.m. MT.

The Cowboys rank second in the conference and 16th in the NCAA in scoring defense at 61.5 points per game while UNLV’s offense averages 72 points a game.
