RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Capital One is celebrating the official grand opening of its new data center in Chesterfield County.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe joined Virginia-based Capital One Financial Corp. on Wednesday in marking the occasion.

Officials say the new data center is part of Capital One’s core information technology infrastructure to better meet customer needs.

The 242,000 square-foot facility was designed to be scalable to match future growth.

Capital One expects to create more than 100 technology and IT support roles in 2014 in central Virginia.

The company headquartered in McLean employs more than 15,000 associates in Virginia.
