IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho Department of Correction officer who police say held a knife to his wife’s throat has been fired from the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center.

Authorities tell the Post Register (https://bit.ly/1iAzuVw) that 23-year-old Joseph Ordille was dismissed March 5.

Ordille is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and felon domestic battery.

He was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on March 4 after police say he pushed his 23-year-old wife on a couch and put a knife to her throat at their house.

Department spokesman Jeff Ray says Ordille was a probationary employee who did not complete his probation due to his arrest.

Ordille is being held on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.
