GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Grand Junction police believe a couple trying to make marijuana hash oil caused an explosion that damaged a motel.

The Daily Sentinel reported Wednesday (https://ht.ly/uw4QN ) that Sunday’s explosion caused a small fire at the Monument Inn that was quickly extinguished.

Police say the man and woman who were trying to make the hash oil sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police spokeswoman Kate Porras says no arrests have been made yet.

Hash oil is made by using butane to extract the psychoactive chemical THC from marijuana to produce THC concentrate. There have been several such hash oil explosions in Colorado and around the country.
