CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - Officials say three Iowa correctional officers were injured after trying to restrain an inmate.

The state Department of Corrections says staff at the Iowa Medical Classification Center responded to a disruptive inmate Wednesday morning in the Health Services Department.

The inmate is accused of being agitated and loud while discussing health issues with a physician. Officials say he began to leave an exam room but returned to argue with the physician.

Two correctional officers responded to the incident and were injured while restraining the inmate. Another officer was injured in the process.

One officer was treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Another was treated by health services staff. One officer was to be seen at an outside clinic.
