SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) - Police say a Springfield officer shot an armed man who threated to commit suicide and was reported to have pointed a handgun at a woman and fired a round in his front yard.

Police Chief Tim Doney told the Eugene Register-Guard (https://bit.ly/1nN3Ibg) the officer confronted and challenged the man who had the handgun and was leaving the back door of a duplex Tuesday night.

The paper said 41-year-old Brian Douglas Walker was reported in critical condition Wednesday morning.
