WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - A May trial date is set for a suburban Chicago woman accused of driving onto a sidewalk and killing a 5-year-old girl after inhaling computer dust cleaner.

Attorneys for 19-year-old Carly Rousso of Highland Park and Lake County prosecutors say attempts to negotiate a plea deal fell short Wednesday. Judge Games Booras set a May 2 bench trial date for Rousso, who is charged with aggravated DUI resulting in death.

Rousso has pleaded not guilty in the September 2012 death of Jaclyn Santos-Sacaramento and the injury to the girl’s mother and two infant brothers.

Defense attorney Douglas Zeit has said Rousso is willing to plead guilty to reckless homicide. But Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Ori noted there is a large disparity in sentences between the two charges.
