HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Jordan Danberry scored 25 points as Conway used a 30-7 second-quarter run to help win its first state championship since 2008 with a 74-67 win over defending champion Fort Smith Northside in the girls Class 7A title game.

Danberry, a junior for the Lady Wampus Cats (28-5), finished 11 of 15 from the field and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Sophomore Alexis Tolefree added 16 points, 14 in the first half, while Asia Willard finished with 12 and Christin Rogers 10 for Conway.

After trailing by as many as 20 points in the first half, the Lady Bears (25-4) cut the lead to 68-62 in the closing minutes before Conway pulled away.

Jillian Myers led Northside with 15 points, one of four players to finish in double figures.
