YADKINVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Yadkin County authorities have charged a man with first-degree murder nearly five months after his mother’s body was found in her van in some woods.
The sheriff’s office said 51-year-old Andy Eric Collins is being held without bond allowed in the Yadkin County Jail. Collins is accused in the death of 82-year-old Azelyne Emma Miller Collins. It’s not known if Andy Collins has an attorney.
According to the sheriff’s office, Azelyne Collins’ daughter went to her mother’s home last Oct. 14 to take her to the High Point furniture market, where they had a booth. McQueen couldn’t find her mother or her van, and Azelyne Collins was reported missing the next day.
State and local authorities found Azelyne Collins’ body on Oct. 16.
