RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Ian Boyd scored 25 points and Apex beat Lake Norman 62-59 on Saturday night in the Class 4-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association men’s championship game.

Boyd, named the game’s most valuable player, was 9 of 14 and T.J. Evans added 22 points for Apex (23-7), which won its first NCHSAA title on its third trip to the championship game.

Hunter Seacat had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead Lake Norman (28-2), which was making its second title-game appearance after winning it in 2010.

Apex shot 47 percent in the second half, 42 percent for the game and was 15 of 18 from the free-throw line.

Kishawn Pritchett added 17 points and David Scott finished with 14 for Lake Norman.
