CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Raziyah Farrington scored 22 points to help Chapel Hill beat Hickory 69-56 on Saturday in the Class 3-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association women’s championship game.

Catherine Romaine added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (32-0), who were in a state final for the second straight year after losing to Charlotte Harding last season.

Farrington was named the game’s most valuable player.

Sadasia Tipps scored 17 points and Yazman Hannah added 16 for the Red Tornadoes (29-1), who were in a state final for the second time in four years and playing for their first state title since 1999.

Chapel Hill shot 44 percent and jumped to a 23-6 lead by the end of the first quarter to take control early. The Tigers led by 26 points in the third quarter.

Hickory shot 38 percent and committed 24 turnovers, leading to 34 points for Chapel Hill.
