HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) - Cami Richardson had 16 points with nine rebounds and Caylee Richardson added 11 and 10 as Hesston defeated Lyons 46-36 on Saturday to claim the Kansas Class 3A girls state title.
Lyons led 11-7 after the first quarter, but Hesston outscored them 15-10 in the second to grab a halftime lead. Hesston surged ahead in the second half, holding Lyons scoreless in the third quarter until Alexis Lasater hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it 33-24. Lyons couldn’t close the gap in the final period.
Megan Voth hit a trio of 3-pointers to total 10 points for Hesston (25-1), which limited Lyons to 19.6 percent shooting from the field.
Aubrey Hollinger led Lyons (17-9) with 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc.
