BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - SF Washington used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Mitchell and beat the Kernels 58-51 in the championship game of the South Dakota Class AA girls basketball tournament on Saturday.

The game was tied 35-35 after three quarters. The Warriors (23-2) took a lead and made it stand up from the free-throw line. They were 20 of 29 from the line.

SF Washington’s title is its fifth and first since 2010.

Kelsey Knecht had 21 points and Ellie Benson and Sydney Koel had 10 points apiece. Benson grabbed 14 rebounds.

The Kernels (23-2) got 25 points and 11 rebounds from Macy Miller. Miller finished the tournament with 103 points to break the old record of 81.

Taylor Volesky had 18 points.
