OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Kade Hayes scored 22 points to help Latta defeat Haworth 57-50 and repeat as Class 2A state champion Saturday at State Fair Arena.
Treston Tully scored 13 points and Brogan Cantrell added nine for the Panthers (27-4), who trailed for most of the game before dominating the fourth quarter in a rematch of last year’s final.
Oscar Rivera scored 18 points and Dorian Threadgill added nine for Haworth (26-5), which finished as state runner-up for the third straight year. Junior Griffin, Haworth’s leading scorer this season, fouled out with six points.
Haworth led 26-19 at halftime, but Latta outscored the Lions 38-24 in the second half.
Latta outscored Haworth 23-7 from the free-throw line. The Panthers shot 69 percent in the second half and 56 percent overall.
