MAYVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - A 28-year-old man faces snowmobiling while intoxicated charges after his sled hit a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputy’s car.

The sheriff’s office tells local media outlets that Michael Trippy of Westfield was spotted by a deputy after he almost hit a vehicle as he rode his snowmobile across Route 430 in Mayville shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

The snowmobile hit the deputy’s car as the deputy was trying to pull Trippy over. Nobody was hurt.



Trippy was charged with snowmobiling while intoxicated, reckless operation, failure to stop before crossing a highway, and failure to yield while crossing a highway. He was arraigned in Town of Chautauqua Court and jailed for lack of bail.
