EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) - Mark Price had 13 points and 10 rebounds, pacing undefeated Marais Des Cygnes Valley to a 50-36 win over Hoxie Saturday to claim the Kansas Class 1A-1 boys state title.
Kaden Vanderpool and Matt Jones each added 12 points apiece for MDCV (26-0), which shot 43.2 percent from the field.
Kade Spresser led Hoxie (24-2) with 14 points and 11 boards, but was the only scorer in double figures. Hoxie was limited to 29.4 percent shooting.
MDCV jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the first quarter and held that eight-point lead at halftime. They pulled away in the final quarter, outscoring Hoxie 19-10.
