LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Maxwell Starwood scored nine fourth quarter points and University scored the final five points of the game to pull out a 69-64 win over Richwood in the Class 3A championship game Saturday.

Skylar Mays gave University (30-7) the lead for good on a driving layup with 47 seconds left. Starwood added a free throw with 27 seconds left and a potential tying 3-point shot by Richwood (28-7) bounced off the rim with 3 seconds left. D. J. White grabbed the rebound and made two free throws to seal the win.

Wayde Sims was named MVP after leading University with 19 points. Starwood added 18.

Reginal Johnson led Richwood with 19. Deunzay Wyatt scored 14, all in the second half.

The Rams embarked on a 25-5 second-quarter run to take a 39-32 lead. University responded with an 11-4 run to tie the score at 43 going into the fourth quarter.
