RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - House Majority Leader Kirk Cox says he’s disappointed Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s administration is reconsidering several state board and commission appointments.

Cox sent a letter Monday urging the McAuliffe administration to reconsider his decision and appoint about 60 people former Gov. Bob McDonnell had picked to serve prior to leaving office.

McAuliffe’s administration said last week that because of a clerical error by the McDonnell administration the appointments were not communicated to the General Assembly and are now considered vacant.

The governor’s office has encouraged those appointees to reapply, but has not guaranteed that they will be reappointed.

In his letter, Cox said the appointees were not communicated to the General Assembly because a pregnant McDonnell staffer went into labor early.

The affected boards include the state tourism board.
