CHICAGO (AP) - Candidates for Illinois governor have cast ballots on Election Day.

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn voted ballot Tuesday at a church on Chicago’s West Side. He says the best way to exercise Democracy is to vote. He faces a challenge from a lesser known candidate, activist Tio Hardiman.

Hardiman voted as soon as the polls opened in suburban Hillside.

Four Republicans are vying for their party’s nomination. Businessman Bruce Rauner (ROW’-nur) has been leading in the polls and fundraising. He voted in suburban Winnetka.

Treasurer Dan Rutherford (ROOTH’-ur-furd) cast a ballot at a township building in Livingston County.

State Sen. Bill Brady voted in Bloomington.

State Sen. Kirk Dillard cast a ballot in Hinsdale accompanied by his wife and two young daughters. He told reporters that support for him is rising.
