SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say 17 people were left homeless by a late night fire that destroyed a Springfield home.

A spokesman for the fire department says no one was hurt in the blaze at the two-family Vinton Street home reported at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Twelve adults and five children were displaced.

The houses on either side of the home also sustained heavy damage to the windows and siding.

The cause remains under investigation.
