SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania man is in prison after being convicted of hurting his two-week-old son.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Donald Dinning of Mayfield to three months in the Lackawanna County Prison, followed by three months of house arrest and nearly 10 years of probation.

He was convicted of child endangerment and assault.

Prosecutors said in the fall of 2012, Dinning shook his two week-old son, Evan, with such force that the infant spent weeks in the hospital.

Doctors said the baby suffered life-threatening injuries including bleeding in his brain and eyes.

Evan has recovered from his injuries and family members say he is developing well.
