OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - An 18-year-old man who fatally stabbed his Oregon grandmother with a kitchen knife has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/CNvBba) that Andrew Johnson pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court in Oregon City. He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

Prosecutors say after killing 63-year-old Donna Tennant on Dec. 8, 2012, Johnson stole $2,000 from her, bought methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine and bought gifts for friends.

He had been living with Tennant at her home in Milwaukie, Ore. , after spending most of his life in Hawaii.

Prosecutors called it a “thrill kill.”
